FROM CAR DEALERSHIP TO RACING CIRCUIT Mazda dealer principal Zoom-Zooms to Venice to join Mazda MX-5 Anniversary race team After being selected to represent the UK in a special Mazda MX-5 20th Anniversary Endurance and Economy Race in Italy last month, Matt Hall, Dealer Principal at Rockingham Cars, swapped his usual business suit for racing overalls and competed against representatives from each of Mazda’s European markets, driving the world’s best-selling roadster.  36-year-old Matt joined 19 mixed-ability drivers from across Mazda’s dealer network to complete team UK, who raced at the Adria International Raceway near Venice.
Mazda UK invited Matt to take part in the race, after Rockingham Cars claimed a Top 10 place among the best-performing Mazda dealers in the country.  The Mazda MX-5 race event was a new experience for Matt, who had never raced competitively before, though his expert knowledge of the Mazda MX-5 and some practice on the track no doubt ensured he was an asset to his team mates.
“20 years is a truly exciting milestone for the iconic Mazda roadster and we are thrilled that we have been able to join in the celebrations,” said Matt. “Racing round an Italian circuit in a Mazda MX-5 is any car enthusiast’s dream come true". “I hope that when I get back from Italy I’ll be able to continue racing, even if it is just doing some laps at the track. Rockingham Cars actually has its own race car and we are already organising some customer track days at Rockingham to get more people involved in the sport. It will give people the chance to try out the new range of Mazda’s on a race circuit and push them to their limits!” Matt added: “Achieving Top 10 status is testament to the strength of the entire team here at Rockingham Cars and it is down to all of them that we are able to provide such a quality service to our customers.”
